Date, time and location at a glance

According to the Swedish Council for Higher Education (UHR), the following applies to the test sitting:

• Date: Saturday 15 August 2026, in the morning.
• Venue: Stockholmsmässan, Älvsjö.
• City: Stockholm only — the test is not offered anywhere else in August 2026.
• Fee: the test is free of charge.

The schedule for the day:

• 8:15 — the test venue opens.
• 9:30 — the venue closes to further entry.
• 10:00 — the test begins with instructions. You must be seated by then.
• approximately 12:00 — most people have finished the test itself.

Afterwards UHR collects all test papers before you are allowed to leave the venue. The end of the day may vary if you have been granted an adapted test situation.

Arrive early — 9:30 is the hard cut-off

The timing margin is the detail most people miss. Your ID is checked several times during the day, and UHR warns of queues at the identity checks. The venue closes to further entry at 9:30, half an hour before the test starts.

UHR states explicitly that there is a risk you will not be admitted once the test has started. Plan to be at Stockholmsmässan well after the doors open at 8:15 — not just before 9:30.

Getting to Stockholmsmässan

Stockholmsmässan is located in Älvsjö, south of central Stockholm.

• The commuter train (pendeltåg) from Stockholm Central Station takes about 10 minutes to Älvsjö station.
• From the commuter train station it is a short walk to Stockholmsmässan.
• Parking is limited on the test day. UHR primarily recommends public transport.

There is a cloakroom where you can leave outdoor clothing and bags. Do not bring larger valuables such as a laptop — neither UHR nor Stockholmsmässan takes responsibility for items left in the cloakroom.

After the identity check you can buy simple food and drink on site. However, you may not bring food or drink to your test seat.

Your summons states which room you go to

Stockholmsmässan is large, and "Stockholmsmässan" is not a precise enough address on the day. Your exact room is stated in your summons (kallelse).

• The summons arrives in your UHR registration account about a week before the test day.
• You need to log in to your account to see it.
• Print your summons and bring it. You need it to enter the test venue.
• You must sit at your assigned seat.

ID: only Swedish identification is accepted

This is the most common reason to be refused entry, and the requirement is stricter than many expect. You must be able to show valid Swedish identification displaying your personal identity number (personnummer).

Accepted documents according to UHR:

• Identity card for people registered in Sweden (Skatteverket).
• Swedish driving licence.
• Swedish SIS-marked ID card.

The following are not accepted:

• A foreign passport — it does not show your Swedish personal identity number.
• Electronic identification, such as BankID.
• An ID document whose validity has expired.

Check the expiry date on your ID document well in advance. Ordering a new one can take a long time.

What you may bring to your seat

Allowed:

• A pencil or mechanical pencil — preferably bring your own, but pencils will be available on site.
• An eraser.
• Simple earplugs from a pharmacy (you may need to show them to the test supervisor).

Not allowed:

• Mobile phones, smart watches, digital watches and other electronic equipment.
• Headphones, AirPods or similar.
• Aids that can store, transmit or receive information, such as smart glasses and electronic pens.
• Food and drink — may be granted as an adaptation if you have diabetes.

You may not leave the test venue while the test is in progress. If you do so anyway, you risk not receiving a result.

The test itself: 90 minutes, 60 questions

The actual test time is 90 minutes. The test contains 60 multiple-choice questions with four answer options, one of which is correct. It is in Swedish and written on paper.

The test booklet also includes a short questionnaire to be completed during the test time. If you do not have time to answer it, this does not affect your result.

The next sitting and your result

Missed the registration? Late registration is not possible — the places ran out and registration closed.

• The next test date: UHR will announce on uhr.se during the autumn when a new sitting opens. A new registration will then be required.
• Results from the August test: published during the autumn according to UHR, with the exact date announced later. You will see it in your registration account.
• The result is reported automatically to Migrationsverket for their continued processing of your citizenship application.
